Pies, sewing, and surgery in SQT

I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving!  We had a great (loud, messy, fun, chaotic) day yesterday.  No illness, no headaches, no burned food.... plenty to be grateful for!

Join me for pie, sewing, surgery, and oh-so-much more in Seven Quick Takes. . . .

1. Happy Pie Day!

On the day after Thanksgiving, we hold our Annual Pie Breakfast.  We bake extra pies for Thanksgiving specifically for this purpose.  I think our first one was about 11 years ago, and we've celebrated this fun day ever since!  This year, we baked 7 pies. . .

 a couple of pumpkin...

two Hershey's Chocolate...

a pecan...

a cherry pie (dairy-free for Donovan)...

and a cranberry crumble cheesecake pie.

Mmmmm…. pie.

2. Down comes the Gratitude Tree. . . .

Another tradition we observe every November is our Gratitude Tree.  We hang it up around the beginning of the month, and add leaves throughout the entire month sharing what we're grateful for.  I love watching it change and grow!  We are truly blessed. . . .

I'm always a little sad when it comes down the day after Thanksgiving.  But it's time to make room for Advent / Christmas!

3. Speaking of Advent. . . .

Are you ready?  Do you have your candles?!  If not, I have a quick, INEXPENSIVE, and easy DIY for long-lasting Advent candles!  Check it out here!

4. Oh, and about that appendicitis. . . .

Remember when I recently had appendicitis?  While I was in the hospital, they discovered that my gallbladder was basically trash, and needed to come out asap.  But they couldn't remove it while my appendix was infected.  AND they didn't want to have to do two surgeries, when they could remove both of the offending organs at the same time if we just waited a bit for my infected appendix to heal.

gallbladder and appendix FREE!

So that's what we did -- waited, then out came both the gallbladder and appendix a few weeks ago!   Thanks be to God, I bounced right back, can now eat anything I want with no symptoms, and I feel great.

5. Lots of sewing going on. . . .

I feel so good, that I've gotten a TON of sewing done!  I caught up on all my mending and custom orders, like more of these sweet balsam sachets. . . .

I'll have some of these listed in the shop soon!

And I started a new project that I'm a little unsure of. . .

sneak peek!

I've never made anything like it, so I don't know how it'll turn out.  But that's how we learn, right?  By stretching our creative muscles and stepping out of our comfort zones? *crosses fingers*

6. Stocking the shop. . . .

I was even able to sew a bundle of zipper pouches and cosmetic bags!

It's been a loooong time since I've sewn items for my shop, and it feels so good.  :)  I'll have them listed by Monday (12/2) so be sure to check them out!  I may have a sweet little coupon code over on the facebook page on Monday, too, so I hope you'll drop by.

7. A quick Donovan update. . . .

We finally have one of Donovan's procedures scheduled!  Please say a prayer for him, that he will stay well so we can finally move forward in confirming his diagnosis and treatment.  The last time we scheduled his procedures, he got sick, and stayed sick, for a really long time.

Thanks for dropping by!  I'll update again on Monday with shop news and listing information. . . talk to you soon!
