Epiphany Cookies

We never got around to making Christmas cookies this year, so we decided to bake and decorate Epiphany cookies instead!  (The Christmas season technically lasts until January 13th, which is the Baptism of our Lord, so we're still in the grace period.  So I still have a few more days to take down my Christmas tree.  Wait, what?)

Monkey 8 and I rolled out our favorite sugar cookie recipe. . . .

. . . and cut out cookies in the shapes of crowns and stars, for the three wise men and the Bethlehem star.

I subbed brown sugar for the white sugar, so the cookies came out
looking a little, um, well-done.  They were still yummy!

Then I set everything out. . .

. . . and turned 'em loose!

Many thanks to my sister-in-law for the Pinterest tip to put the icing in condiment bottles!
Why didn't I think of that before?!

Yes, it makes quite a mess. . . .

. . . but it is SO worth it.  And not just for the resulting tasty cookies.  :)
Happy {belated} Epiphany!  May your week be filled with wonder and awe, joy and peace.
